I will be a published author on Thursday, 25th February 2021.
Blimey.
This is how I won the book publishing package in the first place.
I submitted 2,496 words with the title, ‘Selected excerpts from the 2020 solo self-isolation diaries’, which was unanimously picked as the winner.
That’s what will be published next month. Eeeeeek!
I have to keep remembering to breathe into my belly.
My words, my name, my heart, my soul, guts and truth in a book for anyone to see.
No going back.
I feel a bit sick.
You can pre-order the book here.
Thursdays. Let’s talk about Thursdays.
Apparently, books are published on Thursday’s. That another new thing I discovered in this publishing world crash course.
It’s not that I am new to books, my Audible library contains 155 titles, and there are 4 full bookcases at home, but I see everything from different angles.
Suddenly my eyes can see the publishers logo on the arch of my books.
I’m noticing the font sizes my 49-year-old eyes struggle with and others they lap up.
I have been asked half a dozen times this week what my word count will be and whether it will ‘print on demand’.
I have no idea.
TPS (Trimmed Page Size) and word count per page have to be considered too apparently.
I’m not writing. I’m immersing myself in the writing world.
This week my geek is having a ball as I dig into:
Hero’s Journey 2.0 - there is a special offer with expires today
The Seven Basic Plots - nearly 39 hours if you listen to the Audible version
The Artist’s Way - I did this back in 2019, and it transformed my creativity. I’m going in for round 2 tomorrow with the team at London Writer’s Salon (who are amazing and you need to join them - more about them another time)
I wake in the middle of the night with the stories that want to be written at the front of my mind.
Being in the back end of peri-menopause and with winter all around, I also know that I need to embrace fallow time.
It doesn’t seem possible right now however I struck on the idea of being horizontal for 12 hours a day every day of January.
I love a goal, and tracking on my monthly wall calendar fills me with joy.
I could track it and give myself stars.
This year I splashed out and have 2 calendars.
At the bottom of the stairs is a bird themed one where I track my TRE® (Tension & Trauma Release Exercises) practice and intermittent fasting.
Upstairs is a badass Wild Woman Rising one for more shamanic, moon and nature tracking.
At the bottom of the page, there is some blurb for January. The message is clear - it says ‘Embrace the interior Winter’.
I realise I may have shattered some image you have of me with these reveals.
Oh well. That’s going to happen when you read the book anyway.
12 hours horizontal it is.
P.S. off the back of the last post a kind reader told me you could buy me a drink if you like what you read - please do!
